Quasar
The members of "Quasar" have diverse origins and backgrounds but have come together in HK to live, work and make music. Sanjeev Gurung (Vocals/Guitars/Music/Words) is from Nepal and manages a Bar/Restaurant; Benjamin Gilbert Bair (Bass/Words) is from the U.S. and works at an international bank; Joul (Drums) is from France, teaches music and promotes the Hong Kong Indie music scene;Robert Mills (Lead Guitars) is from New Zealand and teaches guitar. "Quasar" is a bright and shiny star amongst heavenly and astronomical objects. The band christened themselves "Quasar" because of their desire to be rising stars in the HK city lights.
 
Velvette Vendetta

Soft yet Mysterious and Dangerous − In the hot Hong Kong summer of 2006, Jacky (Vocal & Guitar) decided to resume his uncompleted music work which was much hindered by his study in Toronto. After arriving in Hong Kong, he was determined to add a new color in the palette of HK band scene. Jacky was going to form a band. Sharing the same interest of acquiring of rare guitar pedals, Jacky met Ken (Bass) while browsing the forums. After a few conversations, Jacky convinced Ken to play bass with him to form a band. All they needed now was a drummer. Thankfully, Jacky met Andre (Drums) who had returned from Ohio, through an acquaintance. Jacky asked Andre to join the band. Dripping with desire to perform live, it was an offer he couldn’t refuse. The band was formed. The band met regularly for jam sessions. Just after jamming as a band for a month, Jacky recruited Dave (Guitar) to broaden the band’s soundscape. They were soon drinking in pubs and cracking jokes. The band had a secret, a bond. As of 2008, Traven (Keyboard), Velvette Vendetta’s ex-sound guy, has joined the band as a permanent member.
Velvette Vendettais influenced by a wide range of music genres − ranging from metal, indie, jazz, goth-rock, funk, blues, classical, pop to techno. However, the band’s musical direction reflects late 90’s alternative rock and grunge. This beautiful mix of genres blended with a hint of “dark” classical music is Velvette Vendetta’s ingredient. The music is often described by listeners to be soothing yet oozing with energy, much to the amusement of the band. Velvette Vendetta’s live performances are just that − full of energy. Come to one of the band’s show and be ready to be mesmerized, be you head-banger or flamboyant girl.
The year 2007 was equally memorable and productive for Velvette Vendetta. They headlined city’s premier band shows such as HK Live! and Underground HK. The band also managed to get healthy press interest. Velvette Vendetta also had the pleasure of playing to audiences in China. At the moment, Velvette Vendetta is in midst of recording their first album. They also continue to play live locally. In 2008, Velvette Vendetta is hoping to collaborate with more HK indie bands to elevate the HK underground scene to an international level so it can bring recognition and attention from people all over the world."
 
Innisfallen
Innisfallen - On a beach in the west under the suburb sky, a worn-out suitcase rushed ashore. Four lads opened it up, and found amongst the wet and mouldy things a record with two English words on the cover: innisfallen REALlusion.
They are the Hong Kong rock group innisfallen, the name that is pretty difficult to read and was adopted by Eric, who found the island in the middle of a lake in Ireland on the map; but he insists that they are not an Irish folk group. The four lads have different taste in music and bands, but are both under the influence of the waves of the 90s British guitar pop. They reside on the island, looking cultured in appearance, but through music they show their ardour from the bottom of their hearts, narrating fragments of movie-like life between sober and fervent emotions. Eric, majoring in English Literature at college, makes lyrics poetic and sophisticated; with the knowledge in Cinematography, Sam and Cheong build up visual layers in the songs with their guitars and drums, along with the rational bass line of Lung, the Maths graduate, creating stylish and captivating Hong Kong English rock. They were in a three-piece line up in their debut gig in early 2005; their performance moved Sam a lot. Since then, they are like light and shadow. They made a change-of-life decision on a day in winter 2006 − joining Chisel My Records, and recording their debut album, which has been done after one-year hard work.
10 songs, 10 memories. In fading youth, they try hard to trace all the clues linking to the past, making soundtracks for the slideshow projected in the eyes. Shapeless illusions are; solid realities depicted fill every single track on the record. The suitcase, lost the other day, reappears in front of us today, on the land of mammonists.
